Have you ever been thinking about a problem and no matter how hard you focus, it seems that you’re stuck? The issue is real and yet you are unable to resolve it in the present moment.
You’ve reviewed the issue several times, and looked at it from different angles … and no matter what do you do, nothing seems to change! Perhaps you have lost focus on the present moment or are preoccupied with other issues of the day?
A lot of this has to do with the fact that your conscious mind can easily get stuck in a holding pattern. Perhaps you’ve been a passenger on a plane, trying to land at a busy airport. Your plane circles around a city several times delaying your arrival. It is only when the runway clears, and your plane is given the green light, the pilot breaks the holding pattern and starts the descent. That’s how the aviation system works.
It’s not much different than the way the mind processes thoughts. When your mind is trying to achieve a breakthrough, it goes into a holding pattern. It’s as if you are unable to think of anything new. Your mind just keeps revisiting the same thoughts over and over again.
Have you recently misplaced your keys or some other item that was important? It is quite likely, that while searching for your keys, you kept checking places that you had already checked. You knew the keys were not there as you just checked it a few minutes before, but you can’t help yourself and keep checking again and again and again.
You justify this by thinking, you didn’t look properly, or perhaps it’s stuck somewhere in the back, possibly you just didn’t pay enough attention … and so you keep repeating the pattern over and over again. That’s how your mind works.
Unfortunately, this repetition does not get us any closer to the solution. How can it? You keep revisiting the same place over and over. You have likely heard the saying “Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results each time”
When you focus on the present moment, you have a chance to focus on your current issues, right here, right now! This brings clarity to your situation and allows you to break the holding pattern through the use of mindfulness practices.
You have the ability to empower yourself and focus all your creative and imaginative resources, to the right problem, at the right time, in the right place. This ability, to focus on the present moment, can be enhanced by learning and applying mindfulness, meditation or hypnotherapy techniques.
This different approach is possible, as the powerful subconscious mind is utilized, during these processes, enabling you to achieve breakthroughs you thought were simply not possible.
