What is Self-esteem?

Self-esteem is a measure of your internal feelings about who you are and how you see yourself.

We generally categorize self-esteem as high or low, with high being the desired level.

A high level of self-esteem enables you to accept and love yourself, for who you are, while low self-esteem makes you doubt your abilities and creates negative thoughts and feedback.

We develop self-esteem during our childhood, mostly from interactions our parents.

If you were raised in a positive environment and received praise for your achievements, there is a good chance you have developed a positive outlook of yourself and have high self-esteem.

If you were raised in a negative, uncaring environment, you likely will not believe you have the positive qualities you think you should have and will experience low self-esteem.

As we grow older, we may allow these feelings to be influenced by our friends and peers, as we often allow the opinion of others to invade our own feelings.

If you do not allow the opinions of others to impact you negatively, you likely have high self-esteem. It is healthy to not block these negative opinions and not allow them to affect you, as ultimtely your self-esteem must come from within.

To determine if you have low or high self-esteem, ask yourself the following simple questions.

  • Do you like who you are?
  • Are you happy?
  • Can you look yourself in the eye in a mirror for a full minute?
  • Do you think you are a good person?

If you respond no to these questions, you likely have a low self-esteem and need to take action to improve it as soon as possible.

The first thing to do is to rid yourself of those doubts by accepting your faults and realizing that many, very successful people, also have the same issues as you. We all have flaws which we want to eliminate, so you must be willing to acknowledge them and give yourself permission to change.

This will result in improved self-esteem over a relatively short period of time. Be patient, remember it took your entire life, to get where you are … change takes patience, acceptance, and understanding before the new patterns can take hold.

It is also important to accept that you are different from everyone else. Your physical attributes are unique and define who you are. Just as we each have unique DNA or fingerprints, we are different and can never be an exact duplicate of anyone else.

Never compare yourself to anyone else, compete with yourself, not others.

If you discover you have low self-esteem, seek help from Hypnotherapists, Psychologists or other professionals, who are qualified to help you address the root cause of these negative beliefs.

If you wish to attempt a self-help technique, make a list in a journal or in a notepad of 50 things you like about yourself. Then each day, write down one good thing you did to enhance your own positive feelings about yourself. Over a period of three weeks, you will start to see a significantly more positive environment developing, as your self-esteem grows stronger.

Those who have high self-esteem, are much less likely to practice self-sabotage or say or do negative things to others. The positive outlook of life will generate optimistic feelings about the future. Your goals and dreams will start to seem more possible to achieve.

Manifesting your dreams with Vision Boards and repeating positive affirmations and dedicated actions will allow you to achieve anything you wish for in life. Once you achieve this level of self-esteem you will be well on your way to success!

It will be easier to deal with problems and to resist negative pressures from external sources once our self-esteem has been elevated.

It is very important to recognize that these influences are learned, we are not born with them, and what can be learned can be easily unlearned.

We must be open and willing for change to take place and change our daily routines to accomplish these goals.

The rewards will be beyond your wildest dreams as you start to feel the glow of happiness and joy in your life.

Do You Suffer From “Imposter Syndrome”?

Perhaps you know someone who is a high-achiever who suffers from anxiety and doubts themselves; the truth is, almost all of us do at some time or another.

You may recognize some of these symptoms of the “Imposter Syndrome” or “Imposter Phenomenon” — and likely have experienced some, if not all, of them at one time or another.

If you have suffered from:

  • A lack of self-confidence
  • Doubts about your thoughts
  • Doubts about your abilities
  • Doubts about deserving your achievements and accomplishments
  • Negative self-talk
  • Feelings of inadequacy
  • Dwelling on past mistakes
  • Not feeling good enough

You have experiened imposter syndrome, that negative feedback loop that tells us we are not worthy or capable of success.

These thoughts and feelings plague most people at some point in their life; including successful men and women of all ages, races, and orientations.

This pervasive negativity can grow quickly, if you don’t get it under control, as soon as possible.

Imposter phenomenon is triggerted by from your subconcious mind and brings irratoinal fears, doubts and phobias to the concious mind where it festers and pulls you down.

Recognize the signs, and take action before it can negatively impact your professional and personal life.

These feelings can isolate you and can keep you from making connections with the leaders in your field and to continue growing your knowledge and skills.

This isolation will destroy your relationship with those most important to your development, and can make you feel like a complete and total fraud.

Here are five points about “Imposter Syndrome” which may help you avoid negative self-talk:

  • Never Compare Yourself to Others
  • Treat Failing is an Opportunity to Learn
  • Realize that Success is Subjective
  • Accept That Fear is a Motivator
  • Ambitious, High Achievers are Also Impacted

Many people suffer from negative thoughts, however you can learn to compartmentalize those thoughts which are making you doubt your abilities, achievements, and accomplishments.

Always focus on the positives and celebrate the successes you have achieved.

If you have deep rooted irrational fears of phobias, these can often be eliminated through Hypnotherapy or Meditation sessions with a professional therapist.

Live Video Hypnosis Session

“Live Video” Hypnosis Session –

Overcoming anxiety when doing a live video presentation

Facebook Live

Over the past few years, live video has quickly become the preferred content delivery platform for successful entrepreneurs.

Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram and other social media platforms released features supporting live video.

While the technology is easy to use, with Mobile Apps and desktop programs providing easy production, editing, and publishing capabilities not everyone was able to take advantage of these tools.

The human factor prevented many people from using the technology due to anxiety and fear.

You may have attempted, in the past, to do a Facebook Live and found that you were unable to “push the button”.

Or perhaps you did a live session but were disappointed or embarrassed by the result.

In many cases, when you point a camera at somebody, even if they’re the most confident, outgoing person in the world, they instantly become stressed, nervous and have difficulty talking.

These reactions are often based on what we call “irrational fears” … being afraid of something that does not, in any way, threaten us with physical harm.

These reactions come directly from the sub conscious mind and we have no control over them.

The fight of flight response kicks in, the hormones flood our body, and we instantly go into a hyper alert state. The heart rate spikes, blood pressure rises, the body will perspire, all within seconds of the triggering event.

A Facebook Challenge is a great way to get over the jitters as you can give and receive support from your colleagues. When the challenge is supported by a Hypnosis session, it makes it even more effective.

Your fears and anxieties about “going live” will be greatly diminished, or eliminated, following just one hour of hypnosis using Zoom.

The following may help you to calm the jitters, before a Facebook Live.

1. Prepare

Some people are natural “improv” artists and can talk for hours on a topic without stop.

However, Facebook Live is a place for planning, not improvisation.

Before doing a Facebook Live, create an outline in point form, to guide you during your session.

Include talking points, tips to share and topics of discussion.

Choose a theme and adopt a structure for the presentation.

2. Share

Select a topic that you are very knowledgeable about. Your presentation will be much more interesting if you deliver your content with confidence and passion.

You will find it much easier to give an opinion about something you’re knowledgeable about, rather than trying to make something up.

When doing a Facebook Live, invite friends to participate who know about the topic up for discussion. Ask them to comment on your presentation during the Live Video so you can interact with them and thank them for their participation.

Ask for questions and promise to respond to everyone who takes the time to comment.

Talking about topics which you know, will instill confidence that you can easily answer any questions or engage in discussion.

Focus on how you present the content as you are the expert and your audience is there to learn from you.

3. Relax

Everybody gets nervous, to some degree, when it comes to public speaking.

We have a natural, protective instinct, to avoid pain and criticism and avoid any situation that might cause us to be hurt.

Prior to your session, focus on what is going to go right, not what might go wrong.

Your audience will be very forgiving when things don’t go exactly as expected on a Facebook Live. If they have done one themselves, they will understand that life sometimes causes interruptions and embarrassing situations. If they have not done a Facebook Live themselves, they have likely watched others have those “moments”.

It is called “Facebook Live” as it is just that … a moment in time, without edits, that delivers a personal message to people directly. Interruptions, phones ringing, dogs barking, doorbell ringing, kids yelling, are all normal everyday occurrences .. just go with the flow and relax.

If something goes wrong, it won’t be the end of the world.

4. Enjoy

Just have fun!

You may have heard others say how much fun it is to do Facebook Live. If you relax and just go with the flow it can be very enjoyable as you are helping others and contributing to their learning.

As you show your enthusiasm for Facebook Live, your sessions will become more entertaining, and people will be attracted to your sessions and look forward to learning from you.

Prepare, Relax, Share, Enjoy!

6 Tips for Finding Your True Passion in Life

6 Tips for Finding Your True Passion in Life

There comes the point in everyone’s life when they feel the intense urge to find your passion.

Unfortunately, it can be difficult to see, and many of us become frustrated because we aren’t where we genuinely want to be in our lives. If you feel frustrated by not being able to find your passion, here are six useful tips to help you figure out your passion.

  1. Do Many Things – While it may feel a bit overwhelming to have a lot of interests, it is one of the most crucial steps to figuring things out. It is much better to have a lot of options and interests than none at all. Make a list of everything that you are interested in and focus on two to start. If you realize it’s not what you thought, scratch it off the list and move on.
  2. Stay True to Yourself – Stop doing what you hate just because you’ve already invested time and money into the pursuit. The secret to getting unstuck is to take the steps toward doing what you love. Don’t feel you have to be confined to a box and stop worrying about being defined by a single thing.
  3. Focus On Yourself – You can’t continue to compare your beginnings to someone else’s middle. You will never find your true passion in life if you are always watching and comparing your journey to the life of those around you. Focus on you and where you are in your journey and stop worrying about everyone else around you.
  4. Let Go of Fear – Fear will convince you to pass up opportunities because you can’t see past taking the first step. For you to find your passion, you will need to make big leaps of faith. Let go of that fear and dive in head first.
  5. Be Still – We tend to get confused with all the ideas, thoughts, and emotions that are swarming through our minds, leaving us to become frustrated because we can’t see to figure our life out. Sometimes, we need just to do nothing to realize that what we are passionate about has been in front of us the entire time.
  6. Forget About the Money – Money shouldn’t be the determining factor in what you do with your life. When you bring money into the equation, you will always end up doing something that you’re not passionate about. When you are genuinely excited about something, you’ll figure out how to make a living from it.

Finding your true passion in life will take time. However, by following these six tips, you will find your passion before you know it.
